Magenta Telekom (formerly T-Mobile Austria) is one of Austria’s three major mobile operators. Part of the Deutsche Telekom group, Magenta operates a nationwide network and serves both consumer and business customers. Call forwarding is a standard feature on all Magenta mobile plans, whether you’re on a MagentaMobil contract or a Magenta Wertkarte (prepaid).
GSM Forwarding Codes for Magenta
Magenta uses the same standardized GSM codes as other carriers. Open your phone’s dialer and enter the code, replacing [number] with the full destination number including country code (e.g., +431234567890 for an Austrian number).
| Forwarding Type | Activate | Deactivate | Check |
|---|---|---|---|
| All calls | **21*[number]# | ##21# | *#21# |
| No answer | **61*[number]**[seconds]# | ##61# | *#61# |
| Busy | **67*[number]# | ##67# | *#67# |
| Unreachable | **62*[number]# | ##62# | *#62# |
| Cancel all | ##002# |
Replace [seconds] with how long the phone rings before forwarding: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 seconds. A 20-second delay works well for most people.
Example: Forward unanswered calls after 20 seconds to +431234567890:
**61*+431234567890**20#
Our interactive forwarding tool can generate the exact code for you.
Setup via the Mein Magenta App
The Mein Magenta app (available for iOS and Android) is the quickest visual method for managing call forwarding and other account settings.
- Open the Mein Magenta app and log in with your Magenta credentials

- Navigate to Services or Einstellungen (Settings)
- Find Rufumleitung (Call forwarding)
- Choose the forwarding type (all calls, no answer, busy, unreachable)

Setup via the Online Kundencenter
Magenta’s web portal provides the same management options from a browser:
- Log in at magenta.at with your Mein Magenta account
- Navigate to your mobile service
- Open the call settings or services section
- Configure your forwarding rules and save
The Kundencenter is useful when you’re managing forwarding from a computer or handling settings for multiple Magenta lines.
Magenta Customer Service
Dial 2000 from your Magenta mobile phone (free) or 0676 2000 from any Austrian phone. Magenta’s support team can set up, change, or troubleshoot forwarding for you. Business customers can reach the dedicated business hotline at 0676 33 000.
Magenta Tariff Differences
Magenta offers several plan families, and forwarding works slightly differently on each:
- MagentaMobil S/M/L/XL: These contract plans include minutes for domestic calls. Forwarded calls count against your included minutes, just like regular outgoing calls.
- Magenta Wertkarte (prepaid): Forwarding is supported, and each forwarded call is charged at the standard per-minute rate from your credit balance.
- Magenta Business plans: Full forwarding support with the same GSM codes. Business customers can also manage forwarding through the Magenta Business portal.
- Magenta Internet & Phone (fixed-line): If you have a Magenta landline, forwarding options may differ. Contact Magenta support for fixed-line forwarding details.
Things to Watch Out For
- Forwarding costs: On most Magenta contract plans, forwarded calls use your included minutes. If you go over your allowance, standard rates apply. On prepaid, each forwarded minute is deducted from your credit.
- International forwarding: Forwarding to numbers outside Austria works with the full international format. The forwarded leg is billed as an international call based on your tariff.
- EU roaming: Within the EU, forwarding is covered under roaming regulations. Outside the EU, costs vary by destination. Check your plan before relying on forwarding while traveling.
- Voicemail conflict: Magenta’s voicemail (Mailbox) may be configured with a shorter timeout than your forwarding delay. If calls go to voicemail instead of your forwarding destination, contact Magenta to adjust the voicemail settings, or shorten the delay in your GSM code.
Troubleshooting
- GSM code shows an error: Make sure you include the country code in the destination number (+43 for Austria). Check that your plan supports forwarding.
- Calls go to Magenta Mailbox instead: The voicemail timeout is probably shorter than your forwarding delay. Call 2000 from your Magenta phone to adjust, or use a shorter seconds value in the
**61*code. - Forwarding set up but not working: Dial
*#61#(for no-answer),*#67#(for busy), or*#62#(for unreachable) to check whether the correct destination is set. If the check returns no forwarding, re-enter the GSM code. - Double billing concerns: On Magenta, the incoming call to you is free (the caller pays). The forwarded leg from your number to the destination counts as your outgoing call.
Using Safina with Magenta
Safina pairs well with any Magenta plan. Set up conditional forwarding so your phone rings first and Safina handles calls only when you’re unavailable:
**61*[your Safina number]**20#
**67*[your Safina number]#
**62*[your Safina number]#
Safina answers the call, speaks with the caller, collects the relevant information, and sends you a notification with a summary. Visit the setup guide for your Safina number.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Magenta Wertkarte (prepaid) support call forwarding?
Yes. Magenta prepaid customers can use all standard GSM forwarding codes. Each forwarded call is deducted from your prepaid credit at the normal per-minute rate. Make sure your account has enough credit before activating forwarding.
How do I cancel all call forwarding on Magenta?
Dial ##002# from your Magenta phone and tap the call button. This removes all forwarding rules (unconditional, no answer, busy, unreachable) in one step. You’ll see a confirmation message on screen.
Can I forward Magenta calls to an international number?
Yes. Use the full international format in the GSM code, for example **61*+491701234567**20# for a German number. The forwarded call is billed as an international call based on your Magenta tariff. Check your plan for international rates.
Can I use Safina with Magenta?
Yes. Set up conditional forwarding with your Safina number using the GSM codes listed above. Your Magenta phone rings first, and Safina answers only when you don’t pick up. After each call, you get a notification with a summary. Learn more about Safina.
