Basics: How call forwarding to Safina works
Understand the technology behind Safina. We explain to you simply and clearly what a call forwarding (or call diversion) is, how it uses your Safina number, and when it takes over calls.
In order for Safina to take calls for you, it uses a very common and robust technology from your phone provider: call forwarding (often referred to as redirecting calls).
To understand how Safina works, it is helpful to know this core principle. It is not magic, but a clever use of a standard feature.
What is the purpose of call forwarding?
Think of it like a mail forwarding service with the post office. You tell your mail carrier (your phone provider): "When a letter (a call) arrives for me and I am not at home (not answering), please automatically send it to this other address (your Safina number)."
Safina does not replace your SIM card or your phone connection. It works hand in hand with your existing provider (e.g., Telekom, Vodafone, O2).
The two components: Your number and Safina's number
The entire system is based on two phone numbers that work together:
Your existing phone number: This is your well-known mobile or landline number. Your customers will still call exactly this number. Nothing changes for them.
Your personal Safina number: When you registered, you received an exclusive phone number from us. This is the direct "address" of your AI assistant and the destination for forwarding.
The process of a call step by step
When a call comes in, the following happens in the background:
A caller dials your normal, well-known business number.
Your phone rings as usual.
One of the scenarios you defined occurs: You are busy, you are unreachable (no reception/phone off), or you reject the call.
Now the rule stored with your provider comes into play: call forwarding.
Your provider now redirects the call in real-time to your Safina number.
Safina answers the call, introduces herself, and begins the conversation.
You decide when Safina takes over
You have full control over the conditions under which forwarding is activated. The most common rules you can set are:
If busy: While you are already on a call.
If unreachable: In dead zones or when your device is off.
If not answered: If it has rung for a specific time (e.g., 20 seconds).
These rules are standard and can be configured directly in the simple setup through our app.
A simple and robust technology
Call forwarding is a core function of every telephone network. Safina uses this proven technology to seamlessly integrate into your daily life without requiring you to change your phone number or install complex hardware.
We will show you how to set up this forwarding for your mobile, landline, or phone system in the following articles.
