Setup

If you use a professional, local telephone system (often called a PBX) in your office, you can use Safina as an intelligent extension for this system. For example, you can have calls handled professionally outside of business hours, during high call volume, or when individual extensions are unreachable.

The setup is done directly in the configuration of your telephone system.

The most important note: Every system is different

This is the crucial point: There are hundreds of different models of telephone systems from manufacturers like Siemens, Auerswald, Agfeo, Unify, and many more. Therefore, a universal step-by-step guide that works for all devices is impossible.

Instead, this article provides you with a general assistance and the right keywords to help you find the required function in your specific system.

A general guide to configuration

Follow these steps to find the correct settings on your device.

Step 1: Find the manual or the user interface

The best starting point is always the manual of your telephone system. If you no longer have it at hand, an online search for [Manufacturer Name] [Model Number] Manual will almost always yield a PDF result.

Many modern systems also have a web interface that you can access through your browser, similarly to how you would access a router, to make configurations.

Step 2: Search for the right keywords

Search the manual or the user interface of your system for the following terms. One of them will surely lead you to your goal:

  • Call forwarding (the most common term in German)

  • Call diversion or forwarding

  • Call Forwarding or Call Diversion (in English menus)

  • Simultaneous ringing (some systems can signal a call simultaneously internally and to an external number)

  • Official call forwarding or external diversion

Step 3: Set up the forwarding rule

Once you have found the correct menu item, you will usually be able to make the following settings:

  1. Select condition: Specify when the forwarding should become active. Professional systems often offer very detailed options, such as On Busy, After X Seconds, Immediately, or even time-based rules like Outside of Business Hours.

  2. Enter destination number: In the corresponding field, enter your personal Safina number as the external destination for the forwarding.

  3. Save and activate: Don’t forget to save the new configuration to make it active.

If you are stuck

Configuring telephone systems can be complex. If you are unsure, it is often the best and quickest solution to consult the IT service provider or technician who set up the system for you.

Alternatively, you can also send a message to our support team with the manufacturer and model number of your system. We will check if we can assist you more specifically.
